Salah Mohsen joined Ahly at the beginning of 2018, and the manager he played the most under in his career so far is the South African tactician.

With the pair worked alongside one another in the Egyptian capital, under no other head coach has the four-cap Pharaoh star scored more goals than the eight he claimed under the tutelage of the Kagiso native.

Both have since departed the Club of the Century, with Mosimane having gone on to coach Al Ahli and now Abha in Saudi Arabia, while, after a loan spell with Cleopatra FC, the 25-year-old striker permanently left the record African champions for Al Masry in January this year.

It was around the same time that the 59-year-old tactician was appointed as Abha's latest manager, and according to Mohsen, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns manager asked the forward to join him in the Saudi Pro League, but he felt he had to reject the offer.

"Mosimane asked me to come to Saudi Arabia, but some time ago my circumstances were not good and I turned off my phone, and when Ali Maher [Al Masry's head coach] asked me to stay, I could not refuse," the Cairo native told On Time Sports.

With Mohsen having had a relatively good start to life at new side Al Masry, having scored three goals and grabbed one assist in his first 10 games for the club, the forward also reserved some praise for his new manager.

"Ali Maher is one of the coaches who loves his work and does not clown around. He says that we are not employees. We want to achieve the league championship," Mohsen added.

"Al Masry is playing to win the title, and this is our ambition, and my personal ambition is to regain my level, return to the national team, and win a championship with Al Masry."
