Having recently signed for the club where his father established himself as an all-time great, Ronaldinho's son has now made his debut for Barcelona.

Messi’s Dad: Why My Son Won't Return To Barca

Earlier this month, it was confirmed by club president Joan Laporta that Joao Mendes, son of 2005 Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho, would be signed as the newest member of the Blaugrana.

The 17-year-old left Cruzeiro in his native Brazil to join the Catalan outfit, and will play for Barca's Juvenil B side while he adjusts to life in European football.

Having just arrived in the Iberian Peninsula, Mendes has now made his debut for the club's youth team.

In a friendly played behind closed doors at the Joan Gamper Sports City against a Manchester United youth side on Thursday, Mendes donned the famous red and blue for the first time.

With the club competing in the UEFA Youth League this season, their next match is against AZ Alkmaar on 1 March, with the game against the Red Devils serving as preparation for their European encounter with the Dutch outfit.

Blaugrana fans will be hoping Mendes has a similar impact to that his father had during his five-year stint at the Camp Nou, but he is not expected to reach the first team for at least a couple of more years.
