Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence on Paris Saint-Germain's latest UEFA Champions League elimination.
Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence on Paris Saint-Germain's latest UEFA Champions League elimination.

Kylian Mbappe has responded to Paris Saint-Germain's latest UEFA Champions League failure after the French side were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Borussia Dortmund.

What transpired in the second leg of the European clash between the German and French foes at the Parc des Princes was a continuation of the theme of the first leg at Signal Iduna Park: PSG with all the possession and chances, but Dortmund landing the lethal blow.

Mbappe and his fellow attackers were unable to find the back of the net in the French capital as Mats Hummels' 50th minute strike ensured that the Yellow and Blacks progressed to the competition's final for the first time in 11 years.

After the final whistle, the Bondy native had his say on the 1-0 defeat, and seemingly shouldered most of the blame for his team's failure to make it to a second Champions League final in the club's history.

"I tried to help my team as best as I could but I didn't do enough," the France captain said, as per ESPN

"When we talk about being efficient in the boxes, I think I'm the one targeted. I'm the guy who should score goals and be decisive.

"When things are good, I take all the limelight and when they are not, you have to take the shadow. That's not a problem.

"The first one who should have scored tonight was me. That's life and we have to move on, me and the team.

"I don't know if they were better than us. We don't need to denigrate them. In my humble opinion, they were superior in the two boxes. They came once or twice in ours and scored. We went often in theirs and we never managed to score. It's a fact.

"I don't like to talk about being unlucky. When you are good, it doesn't hit the post, it goes in. Today, we were not good enough, us the attackers."
