Moroka Swallows striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango has emphasized the team's unwavering spirit and determination to focus on the pitch amidst their ongoing challenges off the field. The club recently parted ways with several players and head coach Steve Komphela due to the upheaval behind the scenes.

Speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma, Mhango highlighted the players' commitment to their on-field responsibilities after the controversy of their player strike in December 2023.

"As players we have to concentrate on what we have to do on the field of play. We have to leave the things which don't concern us to those who need to solve them. We have told ourselves that we can focus on the things which are out of our control. We have to control the things we can which are on the field of play and that's what we are doing now. The spirit in the team is high and we want the keep it that way," Mhango told the Siya crew.

The Birds beat Motsepe Foundation Championship club Platinum City Rovers in the round of 32 of the Nedbank Cup, in a penalty shootout last week. The result provided hope for the club in these difficult times even though they had failed to score during regulation time.

The Malawian international also expressed their renewed focus on the DStv Premiership.

"It was good to win the Nedbank Cup game and go to the next round. We are aware of the toughness of the PSL competition in the second round and for us to do well we have to make sure we win as many games as we can and don't drop points easily. We really want to finish as high as we can even higher than last season and everyone in the team knows what we are supposed to do to achieve that and that's so we win as many games as we can from now until the end of the season," Mhango concluded.

Mhango's comments showcase Swallows player resilience and dedication to their collective goal, demonstrating their commitment to on-field success despite the club's off-field challenges.

The Birds drew 0-0 against Kaizer Chiefs in PSL action on Saturday, with Mhango starting the game but being unable to score despite Amakhosi going down to 10 men.
