While he is relishing in his current role as Manchester United forward coach, Benni McCarthy has set his sights on a different role in future.

It has been two years since Benni McCarthy made his way to Old Trafford.

He had been there several times as a player with FC Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham, but it is as a coach where his presence at the Theatre of Dreams was really felt.

Forming part of coach Erik ten Hag's technical team, the 46-year-old has been a hit with both the Red Devils' players and supporters who have acknowledged his work with the club's forwards, despite United struggles.

It is likely that when Ten Hag's contract with United comes to an end in June next year that McCarthy will have to move on, unless the incoming coach opts to keep him on board, an unlikely situation.

However, McCarthy is planning to use all the experience gained at the English giants for his next coaching role, which will likely be as a head coach.

“With the knowledge I’ve gained and everything I’ve contributed to the team – I want to take that and then eventually become a manager," Bafana Bafana's all-time leading goal scorer told YOU Magazine.

“Because once you’ve sat in the hot seat at a club and you’ve experienced the adrenaline of decision-making and leading, you want to experience that again one day," he continued.

McCarthy has made no secret of his desire to one day be Bafana Bafana's head coach, and with much uncertainty around the future of Hugo Broos at the helm, that day might come sooner than later for the man from Hanover Park.
