Thembinkosi Lorch broke his silence and penned an emotional farewell message to Orlando Pirates, after completing his high-profile move to Sundowns.
Lorch completed a deadline-day switch to Sundowns ahead of second round of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, sending shockwaves through SA football.
The 2019 PSL Footballer of the Year was unveiled by Downs on Saturday, with Lorch taking to Instagram to address the move and express gratitude to the necessary parties through a statement.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Lorch Breaks His Silence On Shock Sundowns Move" story:
"The bench is coming to you my son. Soon, you will miss Orlando Pirates. I'm telling you, soon you will blame yourself," says mmnculwane.
"All the best man, I hope you don't follow in Mendieta's foot steps," says khosilannete0.
"Guys, when it comes to football, salaries are not the same. Spain, England, Germany, France and other countries around the world even here in Africa, players are not getting the same amount of salary.
"Football is not a company and industry where you find that employees are being paid the same amount of salary," says TT Wa Lekhosi.
"I wish you luck boy, but don't end up like Tso Vilakazi, who is hating soccer for being unable to go back to the Buccaneers, I hope you left well," says Weissel A.
"Welcome to Sundowns boy, you have been enrolled in the top University of South African soccer. Remember, your talent alone is not going to count.
Like Lorch, 'Cheeseboy' left Pirates for Sundowns, going on to win the league with the Tshwane giants. Mokwena mentioned that Rulani Mokwena will know how to get the best out of Nyoso and that he will fit in well at Downs.
With his qualities, Cheeseboy reckons Lorch can maybe fill Zwane's role in the long run at Sundowns.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Exclusive: 'Cheeseboy' Tips Lorch To Fit Into Zwane's Shoes' story:
"What's wrong with Lorch getting a gig at Downs? What makes you so bitter? Tell the truth guys, even if Lorch manages to play two full seasons at Downs, he's down, because I doubt they bought him as a player for the long term.
"Jealousy is jealousy, Lorch will achieve great things at Downs, not many things. You may win 70 trophies but if those trophies are not the league and Champions League, they mean nothing to great players. If Lorch is a great player, he must win leagues always like Mshishi. Welcome home boy and start winning big," says Cutter.
"If Lorch was injury free he was going to be one of the best midfielders after those famous SA legends. For the past two to three seasons, he only managed to play less than ten games per season, and it cannot be enough for a player to show the world his best," says Fair Comments.
"The only reason Lorch is there is to fill his pockets, not to fit into anyone's shoes," says RIQUELME.
"Do you mean Pirates don't have money to fill Lorch's pockets? How big are his pockets? I would understand if you said his bank account," replies afl.
"No Cheeseboy, you have got it wrong, a 30 year old coming to fill the shoes of a consistent 34 year old? I know its just speculation but let me remind you that each player is unique.
"When Zwane joined Sundowns, he was not coming to fill shoes for anybody. But if you are thinking of a player that can play the same role as Zwane, I think Sundowns was long covered for that before Lorch was brought in, remember there is Siphelele Mkhulise, Ntando Nkosi, Siyabonga Mabena, who are much younger than Lorch if you thinking of age as a factor," says Manephilly.

"You are joining the cream of the crop in the PSL. Your soft skill, attitude, patience and respect will be tried and tested to the highest degree. Welcome boy," says His Majesty Yellow PSL Pitbull.
"For game time and also a good salary, I would have preferred him going to Chiefs. The money given to Billiat, Nurkovic and Dolly, would also have gone to him, instead of shares from winnings. Soccer is a short career, chasing for titles at his age is not very important," says Soccer Fanatic.
"I tend to disagree with you a bit. At Sundowns, you get winning bonuses and share the prize money for winning titles. Lorch can now budget for the league title prize money plus the Champions League, depending how far they go. Though I must say Sundowns and Pirates' salary structure is similar.
"At Chiefs, it's a bit of a strange one. Someone earns a million while the other one makes 30k. One wonders what happened to the Vodacom and Black Label financial windfall," replies oupa.phiri27.
"They came as free agents, no transfer fee. Their signing on fees are high because of this, then the signing on fee is not paid out as a lump sum, rather it is spread through the duration of contract, added onto the base salary monthly," replies sithagume.
"There's no player that incites fear when playing against Pirates. Lorch used to motivate the other players and make the opposition panic doing his thing. Now who can be feared at the Buccaneers? Makaringe? Ndlondlo? You can't be afraid of Makgopa, I don't see much.
"It's just the coach that needs to be feared and he just sits on the bench, he doesn't even play," says lwazihnzimande.
"Lorch is not Pirates' property but a player whose career might end at any time. As much as I don't like Sundowns, the offer on the table was a likely to be a good one. I mean look at his age, football careers end so fast. Let him be. Good luck boy and God bless," says makhubele787.
"Very sad to see you go Lorch and to Orlando Pirates, it's time to have another Jele. A player that will be there at the club for the very longest time. I hope this young guy, Mofokeng, can be that player. All the best to you Nyoso," says Bovungana Mvubenjana.
"Just go wena, we don't need your explanation, you chose to join Sundowns, SO WHAT? Just voetsek," says siyasamson3d.
"Time to make money bafo..." says MD007.
"Players come and go and it's part of football (business) but teams will always be there, go boy...just go. You won't be missed at Mayfair, that one I can guarantee you," says @ThizaK.
"Thembinkosi wa mabhakaniya, wish you all the best bafo ,I am hoping and trusting that Sundowns give you more games ,as we all know that you are great and very disciplined player, go on bafo and make more money," says BrutuswamaJuju

Former Sundowns and Pirates star Lebohang Mokoena feels that the Brazilians signed Lorch as a long-term replacement for Themba Zwane, who turns 35 this year.
